I printed it out and will take it to my GP whom I will visit next Friday.
Recovering from the ravages of withdrawal after 5 years on Paxil/Seroxat, originally prescribed for stress and, looking backward, PTSS.
Though it is hardly possible to get something positive from the utter hell of repeated c/t's and protracted w/d, all of this unnecessary, I still believe in the possiblity to emerge from this as a healed, wiser human being.

Great stuff, Angie! Claudius, great idea about showing it to your GP. When you show it to him/her, keep cool and confront them with the facts existence of which they have denied for so long. It's the chink in the system's armour that we can start ripping open now.

The article does however heavily refer to SurvivingAntidepressants, which is one of the great online support sites which is easily dismissed by the doctors...
It seems, however, that my GP now takes the stuff at least a bit serious and last time she told me that in a new program in my GP office, people are being taken off Lexapro under guidance using the suspension and the incremental drop method, without alternating dosages. So yes, they learn a bit. MAybe even my letter has contributed to this although they will never admit that I guess :)

Wow! That's a fantastic article by Christopher Lane. Thanks for posting it, Angie! This is a really great, moderate-length resource to hand to people you are trying to educate.

Alto has done a superb job and a tremendous amount of work reading research, promoting further research, and summarizing it all for the world. I hope she gets a book out of this! The Erin Brockovich of SSRI w/d....

Claudius -- I'm *sure* your letter contributed to your GP's change in protocol, and that's quite good news about the change.

For that reason, shamanism is closely connected with suffering. One must suffer the disintegration of one's own system of thought in order to perceive a new world in the higher space."

I printed out the article and still have to read it fully. But I already saw much if the info is coming from Altostrata, who indeed does a great job, as being a "dissident" from the first great site PP, which still has a pretty unfriendly atmosphere (I am not allowed to post there anymore but very occasionally look there).
I in fact never completely understood why this site was founded next to SA. Understand me well, I feel very at home here but I did too on SA and being still a member there, I have to maintain and update two journals now :)
I ma really curious what my GP has to say, last time I visited her, about 4 months ago, she told me zhe would keep an eye on publicaitons about the subject. Together with this one, I printed out some articels from well established news papers about the recent 3 billion custody GSK had to pay for spreading false informaiton about some medicines, among them Paxil!

We encourage collaboration among all the sites working to improve life for people who are having difficulties with psych meds, and we encourage people to belong to as many sites as they’d like. Each site has some different things to offer, and many people could benefit from getting support from more than one site.

There is room for many villages on the Internet. Together, we form a strong network. The Rebel Alliance....

OK I got it Sheila, and understand me well, you are doing a great job!
My fear was/is that there is always a risk of "splintering", in the Netherlands, recently a new website came online called Paroxetine Prison ( http://www.paroxetineprison.nl/ ) and although well-meant, it does not give any useful information. So in a sense, according to the number of support sites: less is more. I still believe that SA and ADWP are the two best support sites on the Net after the changes on PP (though I still sometimes refer to PP when I guide Dutch people who are in WD, but only to the sticky threads.
