Wake Up London is becoming well-known for organizing meditation flash mobs in Central London every month. The group of young practitioners follow Thich Nhat Hanh, the renowned Zen master, author, and human rights activist.

In celebration of the Vietnamese teacher's return to London this week, hundreds will gather for a "Sit in Peace" meditation on the open grounds of Trafalgar Square on Saturday March 31.

In the belief that being mindful and silent can create peace for all humanity, the Buddhist monk will guide the sitting meditation beginning at 2:30pm, offering his calming vibrations at no charge to all who join his remembrance of peace "within us and around us".

Sitting meditation is one of the ways to contemplate peace, says the Wake Up London website: "We invite you to sit together in silence, generating the energy of peace, solidity, and freedom. You may like to bring something to sit on (it may be a good idea for this to be waterproof)."
