Wow, Alex! I admire your courage and your determination! You're going about this is a very conscious, smart way. I'm also glad to hear you have such a supportive herbalist friend.

Yes, I think there may be some things we all have in common in this group along the lines of being the sensitive, emotional, perceptive, caring, unconventional people in the world. Because of this, we have certain vulnerabilities, but we also have certain strengths, and much to offer the world! The goal is to find what we need to help the vulnerabilities and make it possible for us to soar!

OK, we will help you think about how to prepare yourself well for your taper.

For that reason, shamanism is closely connected with suffering. One must suffer the disintegration of one's own system of thought in order to perceive a new world in the higher space."

Very shocking but all too recognizable story Sheila!
I remember talking on SA about one year ago about Kundalini. I think we have basically the same experience, I am also slowly recovering and now 4.5 years free of the meds. I am still confident we will finally heal and find a new, more spiritual road.
    All the best, Claudius
Recovering from the ravages of withdrawal after 5 years on Paxil/Seroxat, originally prescribed for stress and, looking backward, PTSS.
Though it is hardly possible to get something positive from the utter hell of repeated c/t's and protracted w/d, all of this unnecessary, I still believe in the possiblity to emerge from this as a healed, wiser human being.

Great to see you again, Claudius. Thank you for the support. Let us resume our explorations of Kundalini together. I’m glad you’re recovering. I am, too. I wish it were faster! What is the purpose of it being so slow? I do keep learning tons more along the spiritual road, so maybe that’s basically it. I like your signature.

Claudius, your signature; "Though it is hardly possible to get something positive from the utter hell of repeated c/t's and protracted w/d, all of this unnecessary, I still believe in the possiblity to emerge from this as a healed, wiser human being." This in bold is spot on. WD is an extreme type od psychological conditioning. If our minds have been able to deal with this, they will be able to confront just about anything in the future.

what a horrid ordeal you and so many of us have had to endure... we who trusted doctors... but no more gullible.

I appreciate what you are doing here for so many others and sorry you are still not there yet and hope it is "just around the corner."

I have forgotten already, but is it now something like 7 years since you stopped?

    What are occupital headaches?

Thank you for your kind words, gD! This is an atrocious ordeal that we are all going through. I am determined that some good should come out of it for all of us. And, hopefully, we can find ways to make it better for those who come after us.

It’s nine years since I started my taper, and seven years plus a couple of months since my last dose of anything.

By occipital headaches, what I mean is the base of the skull, where the neck meets the back of the head. I had plenty of headaches before I ever took meds – but they were all tension- and sinus-related, and all above my eyes. Fall of 2003 was the first time I had ever had a headache in that location and that bad. It was something very different.

What sort of taper did you do Sheila and over how long?

I’d have to look up what I did in the early part. It was messy, because I was taking Prozac to “help” with the taper (no longer recommended), plus starting Buspar. I had a bad episode of serotonin syndrome.

But, at about 8 mg, I switched from cutting pills to liquid, and then went at the rate of 2/5 mg every 2-3 weeks. That was the absolute fastest I could tolerate. If I had it to do over again, I would go slower. But, in 2003-2005, the 20-month taper I was already doing was considered very, very slow. No one imagined, at that time, that going even slower was a good option.
