Poll No. 17 - Caffeine, alcohol, marijuana

    1. You can select "beneficial" and "adverse" for the same substance if the effect was mixed.

    2. Despite marijuana being a very effective way of treatment for many conditions, please bear in mind that adding any drugs (artificial and sometimes natural) into the mix while still being in WD may potentially impede the recovery process on the whole and worsen the symptoms. Same applies to coffee and alcohol. These may, in many cases, worsen symptoms as well.

It also needs to be remembered that the mentioned substances have neuroactive properties and their overuse may lead to dependency. Caution is by all means advised.

    This poll is anonymous.

I do not smoke or drink, I was a heavy caffeine user premed and I came off CT when I started Zoloft. Caffeine had little effect on me on meds, and in small amounts it has no effect on me in WD. I still drink caffeine, but not very often, and especially not like I used to.
8 weeks on Zoloft in total, including my 4 week taper, ending on May 20th, 2013. Still going through emotional and partially physical hell.

I can't tolerate much caffeine or alcohol in w/d. After a lot reflection, I've also come to the realization that I wasn't tolerating them that well pre-meds either. I think I have more of a sensitive system than I realized. So, good, that only took me about 20 years to figure out....
    Meds free since June 2005.

"An initiation into shamanic healing means a devaluation of all values, an overturning of the profane world, a peeling away of inveterate handed-down notions of the world, liberation from everything preconceived. For that reason, shamanism is closely connected with suffering. One must suffer the disintegration of one's own system of thought in order to perceive a new world in the higher space."

In WD, both alcohol and caffeine (the latter monstrously) worsen the symptoms. Same while on the drugs, though slightly less. No problems whatsoever pior to drugs.
